For two years I have been trying to work on a smoking problem with the 1962, 292 Y-Block in my 54 F350. Turns out the dip stick was replaced with one five inches shorter than original. Quite surprised when I removed drain plug for oil change and oil flowed like a faucet. Overfilled my 8 quart drain pan until when all over and done sump had between nine and ten quarts of oil in it. I have now filled it with the correct seven quarts but am in search of the correct 26”, from the cap to tip,dip stick. Anyone know of a vendor that sells correct length dip sticks, Thanks!

A possible solution. The early Tbird dip sticks are longer than the sedans and might work for you. You can remark it by using notches. Repro's are available from the Tbird parts guys like CASCO. I did this with my 54 Ford when I couldn't locate a sedan dip stick.

Another solution is to weld an extension onto your present dip stick and mark it with notches.
