Took me 10 years to rebuild this from a basket case. Being the first one I did, I learned how to do everything from scratch on a car that had I known what I know now I probably would have passed on it.

10 years due to Real Life taking priority like kids etc. Now with an empty nest and a new 3 car garage I have a new Customline to work on.

Everything is pretty stock on the car, with the exception of the seats. Those are from a Dodge Neon and fit well. Back seat is that same Neon back seat cut down to fit into the smaller Corvair body. Right now I am personally redoing the upholstery because the original is significantly sun faded. So far front seats are done, working on rears. We drive it whenever we can and easily put 300 miles on a weekend just cruising around.

Nice car, I had a 66 back in the late 60's and it was a blast to drive.

Cool car.

I've always liked the Corvairs.

Had a good friend in high school in the 1980's who was into them. He lived on a bunch of acres and must've had 5 or 6 running ones and around 20 parts cars. Back then, they were considered throw away cars and people would sell the parts cars to him for almost no money and sometimes, he'd get cars just outright given to him.

He had convertibles, rampsides, vans, sedans, etc....basically all the body styles and years.

Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with cancer in his late 30's and passed rather quickly. His dad sold off the running cars with titles, for crazy low prices, and had the rest crushed. I was out of contact with him when that all occurred and didn't find out about it until it was all over. Otherwise, I would've saved all of it.

I bet $2,500 would've bought all of it....running cars and everything.
