Apologies if this subject has been covered before - what electronic ignition systems are recommended for a V8 Crestline?
Many thanks in advance.

Pertronics. Google and call them for correct part number. If original 6v it will be positive ground.probably should buy the Flame Thrower coil as well.

Thanks Andy, I thought that might be the case. It’s had a 12V conversion and they say I’ll need the distributor part number - which is a little inaccessible where it sits.

The good thing for you is that you can order the better version of it. Not available with 6v. I believe they are less sensitive to overheating and surges. I blew mine up by overcranking and leaving the key on. Warranty-yea!

I used the Pertronics on our wagon and was well satisfied until it left me high and dry in the middle of a busy intersection in rush hour traffic, not to mention the temperature was hovering around 90 degrees.

I have converted back to points,if I do have a problem I can get home now.

I had a similar situation - all my fault - but it doesn't happen with points. I think the beauty of electronic is accuracy. consistency, and maximizing performance. The downsize is instant death. I'm going to try it for awhile, as I already own them and most people are extremely happy.

I have a high-speed Donzi boat and am always trying to maximize speed. At some point I'm going to go Pertronics on it for the fun of seeing how much more I can get out of it.
