Had some friends and my dad over saturday and replaced the 239 with the 292 I picked up last winter.
I found the engine online and it turned out the seller was a friend of my father-in-law. The engine was rebuilt about 10 years ago when the seller was restoring his '56 convertible. The engine came with a '57 intake and carb from a T-bird, and a aircooled fordomatic.
I cleaned up the engine and painted it, replaced all gaskets except head gaskets, the engine is extremely clean inside.
we had the 239 out in about 2 hours and the 292 installed an hour later. 2 more hours and we were ready to fire it.
She started up right away with alittle gas down the carb
Then the fan ate the radiator

The guys put the rad in while I was picking up pizza for everyone, they didn't notice the waterpump is longer on the 292 than on the 239 and I didn't check either, so a new rad is on order. we also didn't get any fuel to the carb so either the pump is bad or it's possible I plumbed in in backwards.
Even with the rad issue it was a great day with some friends and I can button up the rest of the engine and hopefully get some test miles before the snow flies and they start salting our roads.
