Does anyone have a pic of the Ford tool for the hood spring?

I have one of those cases where the hood does not stay put. As your picture shows, each side has a round tension spring and a helical spring. Can anybody tell me...When your hood falls, is it necessary to change all four springs or is the cause one spring or the other?

I have a feeling you do not have the round one wound tight,

Since my previous post I took a look at the helical springs. With the hood propped up I found I could very easily take the end of the spring off the tab. I then turned the spring one half turn on the slotted centre post then grabbed the other end with a vice grip. A friend rotated the spring until I was able to guide the other end back onto the tab. Done both and my hood is good. The springs are now wound about as tight as you can get them. I suspect they have lost their spring torsion, so if they act up again I will need to buy new ones.h
