Just got a '54 Customline about a month ago. This is my second resto/mod (http://www.frontiernet.net/~dedwinson/). I "finished" a '66 Corvair Convertible a few years ago and came across a clean '54 so I took the plunge.

I tend to do a lot of research before digging into a project, but aleady I am thinking a 302/351 engine swap and adding a C4. Currently the old Y-Block leaks from a main seal and the carb leaks bad so I figure if I am pulling the engine I might as well go newer since my wife wants A/C, Power Steering etc. The Old Y-Block just doesn't have the mounting spots for all the modern items.

I am also going to completely convert everything to 12 volt. The old 6 volt system is still there and "works" but there are bare worn wires all over the place just waiting to spark and catch fire.

Body is in superb shape with only 66K original miles which, combined with being stored most of the time, is why the body and frame are in great shape. Most of my resto work will be minor body dings and engine etc.

Really looking for any guidance as some rodder message boards have folks that seem short tempered. I only gather this by reading responses to other posters over the board's history.

Looks nice. Don't see many with the continental kit.

I think that you will find that folks here are not short tempered, they just want to help.

From what I have seen by reading posts and responses, folks seem extremely willing to help out. I have been highly active on my other board (corvair) and hope to continue the same here offering both help and asking questions.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I heard people call it a Continental kit, but that's probably because you see similar on Lincoln's and the name stuck in folk's minds. They sound similar anyhow Continental Coronado. Honestly Continental seems easier to say anyhow but a rose is still a rose and by any other name still smells as sweet.

Looks like you have a nice, clean little sedan to start out with.

We don't do bad tempers, flaming, or things like that here. We're all about getting, and keeping these cars on the road, regardless of whether they're stock, hotrodded, or something in between.

Like Danny said, we're a small group but willing to help.
