Post subject:  1954 FORD HOOD SPRINGS

Who can explain how to put the circular spring correctly on the hood hinge? :evil:

I have a circular hood hinge spring and I have a hood hinge.

I need to put the spring on the hinge but can't get it on properly for the hood to open and close correctly. :x

If I remember correctly, I think there's something about it in the Shop Manual.

If you don't have one, I can look it up.

I know that it'll just slide on in the unwound position, but you have to actually put the spring under a load to get it to do what it's supposed to do.

This is a tough one I know. I have tried a lot of "wrong" ways but haven't came across the correct way yet. I know it's gotta be "wound" somehow to work properly.....if I only knew the somehow answer would sure help a lot. :x

Roland rebuilds hood hinges and for sure knows how to wind them.

His phone number is there.
