I've had a very interesting week and thought I'd share it with the group.

Last Saturday night I had a bout of intestinal problems out of the blue. Sunday I felt great and even spent the day installing a sign out of town. Sunday evening I developed a slight stomach ache, but nothing worth worrying about.

Monday morning I had a bad stomach ache about 6" wide in a oval shape over my naval. I slept in the afternoon and reported it to my doctor via my "portal". That evening I took Pepto Bismal and it helped but was still there. Note: I have a naval hernia that has been of concern, thus I thought it might be related. No nausea.

Tuesday morning the doctor's office called and wanted me in for evaluation within the hour. The ache was less severe but had moved a bit to the right side. He tapped on my stomach and released it and I could feel something. Immediately he said, "Don't eat or drink anything, get down to the hospital for a CT Scan".

Three hours later I was in for an emergency appendectomy. I was a lucky guy. It had "leaked" and thus the "calm before the storm". I guess the leaking had eased the pain but it would have eventually been severe and dangerous. I recognize how great it was that I wasn't on vacation, out of town, etc.

They did it "laparoscopic" with two incisions and removal through the naval. I'm on some heavy drugs for the pain, but home (spent the night at the hospital). Believe it or not, no restrictions as to what I can and cannot do. I'm in the sign business and thus have some heavy lifting, but am going to take it easy anyway.

Replacement of the '54 fuel pump is on the back burner for awhile.

I've had a very interesting couple of years with prostate cancer (successful treatment), resulting infections, and now this. As I was telling someone, with all of these parts being fixed up, I may live to be 100.

Glad your appendicitis was sorted out before it had a chance to blow out of control. I can really get nasty if you don't go under the knife in time.
